Jingzhou hosts the 6th Chu Culture Symposium and the 20th Annual Conference of the China Qu Yuan Society

On the morning of May 8th, the 6th Chu Culture Symposium and the 20th Annual Meeting of the China Qu Yuan Society commenced in the historically significant city of Jingzhou. This prestigious gathering convened over 200 esteemed experts and scholars from across the globe, uniting them in a collaborative exploration of the origins and evolution of Chu culture, and the formulation of strategies for its preservation and advancement.

Among the distinguished attendees at the opening ceremony were: Mr. Wang Jianping, Secretary of the Party Committee of Yangtze University; Mr. Fang Ming, President of the China Qu Yuan Society and Professor at Beijing Language and Culture University; and Ms. Guo Xiaorong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Jingzhou Municipal Party Committee and Head of the Publicity Department.

During the keynote speech session, 14 domestic and international experts and scholars successively took the stage. Among them were Tang Zhangping, Honorary President of the China Qu Yuan Society and Professor at Minnan Normal University; Professor Taniguchi Yo from the University of Tokyo; and Professor Zhao Minli, Vice President of the China Qu Yuan Society and Professor at Capital Normal University. They delivered keynote addresses from diverse fields, dimensions, and perspectives, centering on themes such as: a review and reflection on Qu Yuan and Chu Ci research; "mountain writing" in Chu Ci-style works of the Han, Wei, and Six Dynasties periods; and the poetic characteristics of "Jiu Ge" (Nine Songs) from Chu Ci.

This academic symposium, a joint undertaking of the China Qu Yuan Society and Yangtze University, is organized through the collaborative efforts of the School of Humanities and New Media of Yangtze University, the International Exchange and Cooperation Office of Yangtze University, and the Hubei Qu Yuan Research Association. Spanning a duration of two days, the symposium will provide a platform for experts and scholars to engage in focused group discussions, exchange research findings and scholarly insights, collectively explore strategies for preserving and promoting Chu culture, and undertake scholarly site visits to the Jingzhou Museum and the Xiongjiazuka National Archaeological Site Park.
